Privacy policy
The short version: screening happens on your phone. Your contacts and call history never leave it. Only numbers you choose to report are shared.
Last updated October 16, 2026.
What stays on your phone
Blocked It decides what to do with each call on your phone. To do that, it uses:
- Incoming call details from Android: the number, whether your carrier verified the caller ID, and any caller-ID label (such as "Scam Likely").
- Your contacts (if you allow it), so people you know always ring.
- Your call history (if you allow it), so numbers you've called always ring and numbers that keep calling without an answer can be silenced.
Your contacts and call history are read on your phone only and are never sent to us. Blocked It keeps its own list of the calls it screened (number, time, decision and the reason) on your phone so you can see what happened. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
What is shared, and only if you choose to
The Blocked It network lets users warn each other about spam numbers. It's on by default, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings → Blocked It network.
When you tap Report spam or Not spam on a call, and sharing is on, your phone sends us:
- the phone number you reported, and whether you said spam or not spam;
- whether the carrier verified that call's caller ID;
- the carrier's spam label, if there was one (for example "Scam Likely"). We never send other caller-ID names, since those can be a real person's or business's name;
- a random ID created by the app when it was installed. It isn't linked to your name, phone number, email or Google account, and it lets us stop one phone from voting many times.
That's all. Nothing is sent for calls you don't report, and reports you make while sharing is off stay on your phone.
About every 15 minutes, your phone also downloads the shared list of reported numbers. That request contains no information about you or your calls.
How long we keep it
- A reported number only goes on the shared list after at least two different phones report it within 3 days, and drops off 7 days after the last report.
- We delete the reports themselves 30 days after they're made.
- Our server logs don't record IP addresses.
Public complaint data
The shared list also includes numbers that appear in public U.S. government complaint data (such as the FCC's unwanted-call complaints). Those numbers are only silenced, never blocked, because caller IDs can be faked.
This website and the waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the phone type you picked, the time you signed up and the page that sent you. We use it only to tell you about Blocked It's launch and major updates. To be removed, email us. The site has no ads, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party scripts. Your IP address is used briefly, in memory, to stop spam signups and isn't stored. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles traffic to protect against attacks.
What we never do
- We don't sell or rent your information, or share it for advertising.
- We don't listen to, record or transcribe your calls.
- We don't read your texts.
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play. We never see your card details. Google tells us whether a subscription is active.
Your choices
- Turn off sharing anytime in Settings → Blocked It network.
- Remove contacts or call history access in Android settings. The app keeps working with fewer rules.
- Ask us to delete reports tied to your app's random ID, or your waitlist email, by writing to the address below.
- Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have rights to know, delete or correct personal information. Email us to use them. We'll never treat you differently for doing so.
Children
Blocked It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date above before the change takes effect, and tell you in the app if it's significant.
